Today, rising singer-songwriter Mikhail Laxton delivers an homage to his hometown with ‘Mossman’, his new single out now via acronym Records/Howling Turtle Inc. Hailing from the KuKu Yalanji Tribe in Mossman, Far North Queensland, Australia, Laxton co-wrote the track with Terra Lightfoot as a tribute to his roots – home to the world’s oldest living rainforest and providing a coastline to the Great Barrier Reef, Mossman is the kind of small but mighty place where everyone knows and cares about each other, always quick to lend a helping hand. Following the previously released ‘Dying To Let You Go’, ‘Mossman’ serves as the second single off Laxton’s self-titled debut full-length album, available August 18th.
A Message From Mikhail Laxton
“I’m a Mossman boy through and through. This is where I, and my people, are from. The funny thing is that when I was younger, I never could see it for what it is. A Paradise. On one of my most recent visits, on my last day, I went out to the beach at low tide, I walked out onto the mud flats, and I looked back at this beautiful place. I saw the beach, the mountain, the beautiful blue sky. I wondered why I ever left that place. Of course, I have made my home on the other side of the world but as they say, ‘There’s no place like home.’“
